Lunar Inn Relaunch Invites Visitors to “Stay with Purpose”

St. John’s, Ktaqmkuk – First Light has relaunched the Lunar Inn, reimagining the former medical hostel as a one-of-a-kind Indigenous cultural learning hub that invites visitors to experience the cultures, histories, and traditions of Indigenous Peoples in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Located on Quidi Vidi Road immediately behind First Light’s new headquarters, the Lunar Inn offers an immersive overnight experience unlike any hotel in the city. Guests stay alongside the First Light community, where Indigenous stories, perspectives, and opportunities for connection are woven into the experience. Every stay is designed to encourage learning through Indigenous books, art, music, films, and conversations with First Light’s onsite Cultural Host.

As Cultural Host, Burke helps guests build meaningful relationships with the urban Indigenous community in St. John’s. She welcomes visitors, facilitates connections with local cultural experiences, answers questions about Indigenous histories and traditions, and supports guests as they engage with the many learning opportunities available through First Light.

All revenue generated through the Lunar Inn is reinvested into First Light’s charitable work, supporting Indigenous-led programs, cultural revitalization, and public education about truth and reconciliation.
