First Light to Announce Plans to Address Indigenous Health Gaps as Election Campaign Overlooks Crisis

St. John’s, NL –  On the eve of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, First Light will announce plans later today to directly address the systemic inequities faced by Indigenous people in the provincial health system.

“Healthcare has been one of the defining issues of the provincial election campaign, yet party leaders and local candidates have barely spoken a word about addressing the harsh realities faced by urban Indigenous people,” said President and CEO Stacey Howse. “That isn’t going to stop us. We’re moving ahead to address gaps in health systems to ensure our community is able to access critical care free of discrimination.”
