First Light to Hold ‘Rally for Reconciliation’ for National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

St. John’s, Ktaqmkuk –  First Light will be holding its Rally for Reconciliation in recognition of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. 

Gathering at the Northbank Lodge in Pippy Park, the event will feature speeches from Elders, survivors and the First Light community highlighting the resilience of survivors of residential schools, as well as a Memorial Walk to honour and remember those who never made it home.

All are welcome to attend and encouraged to wear orange in support of survivors and loved ones. Community members are also encouraged to bring their drums to join in song. More information, including parking details, can be found at  firstlightnl.ca/osd. 

The event gets underway at 2:00 p.m. Members of the media are invited to attend and speak with representatives of First Light. Interviews can be arranged in advance by emailing [email protected].
