First Light opens Harvey House

In July 2025, First Light opened Harvey House, a 10-unit transitional housing facility, dedicated to supporting women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ relatives who have lived experience of violence. This safe and inclusive space is staffed 24/7 by Inclusion Case Managers who provide support with skills development for daily living, wellness goals, and culturally inclusive programming. Harvey House is named in loving memory of Andrew Harvey, a First Light colleague and champion of safe, inclusive, and affordable housing for urban Indigenous community members.

For First Light:

  • Continue to build relationships to support further response to the housing crisis in collaboration with government and service delivery organizations.

We envision a city where all members of the urban Indigenous communities enjoy access to safe, secure, and affordable housing. To realize this vision, we call on all residents of St. John’s to help advance change in the following ways:
