There’s something special happening inside Eastern Edge Gallery. The warmth of gathering around a kitchen table. The feeling of returning home. The beauty of community blooming right in front of us.
The Stories on our Walls: Eastern Edge
The Stories on Our Walls exhibit invites community members to share their memories, imagination, and reflections through art. Each piece on the wall, whether it’s a sketch, a note, a poem, or a burst of unforgettable colour, becomes part of a living tapestry about what it means to belong in this place.
This exhibit has been built by our community.
These pieces have hung on the friendship centre walls for years, supporting us quietly through joy, sorrow, and everything in between. Now they welcome everyone into the stories that shape us. The best part is that we’re still building this exhibit together.

A Community Canvas Still Growing: Add your Piece to the Story
In the ‘still unfolding’ section, we have our community canvas. It is an open invitation to add your own voice, no experience required. There are no rules about what your story should be. There is simply a moment of connection and a welcoming corner of wall that is ready to hold it. Every person in our community is invited to contribute even a single small mark.

We also have the community art wall. These postcard sized sheets give you a chance to express your creativity and become part of the exhibit in a hands on way. Drop by and create something to leave behind. Share a piece of yourself with the community members who will visit after you. Be a part of this living archive.
Every contribution, whether on the canvas or the postcards, is a reminder of how vibrant, diverse, and creative our urban Indigenous community continues to be. Whether you leave behind a quick doodle or something you’ve carried quietly for years, your contribution helps this shared space grow. We encourage you to visit the gallery and take part in this unfolding story.
Visit Eastern Edge Before December 13
If you haven’t visited yet, there is still time. The gallery is open until December 13, 2025 and we would love to see more community members filling the walls with art, love, humour, imagination, and memory.
Bring a friend. Bring your kids. Bring your curiosity. Stay for ten minutes or stay for an hour. Then add something that carries a piece of who you are.
For operating hours and other visitor information, please visit the Eastern Edge website.

An Invitation to Belong
This exhibit is more than a collection of artworks. It is a communal breath, a chance to slow down, and a reminder that the stories we carry matter.
