At First Light, we are committed to enhancing the well-being of Indigenous individuals, families, and communities living in urban areas through our free, accessible programs. Our offerings are designed specifically to address the unique needs of this growing and diverse community.

Our programs aim to provide meaningful and impactful experiences that contribute to the ongoing well-being of Indigenous communities. Check out what programs we’ve got going on right now by taking a look at the list below.
Arts & Crafts 👤 All Ages
A crofting program for all – no matter your skill level! Come join us and learn a variety of different styles of arts, crafts, and techniques.
Breathe 👤 All Ages
Breathe provides a safe space for parents and caregivers (with children under 18) to practice self-care while engaging in peer-support. Child-minding will be provided to children aged 1-11 years by trained staff in a separate room.
Community Culture Circle 👤 All Ages
A weekly group that introduces participants to Indigenous ceremonies through the blending of traditional Indigenous knowledge with contemporary ideologies.
Families on the Land👤 All Ages
Families on the Land is open to all ages, and will be full of a variety of different fun, land-based and cultural activities!
Generations 👤 Ages 8+
Generations program is open to girls and women (ages 8+) & provides a culturally safe space to engage in peer-support and mentoring while participating in lands-based and cultural activities.
Ilingavugut 👤 All Ages
Ilingavugut (Inuktitut for “we belong”) is Inuit specific programming available for parents/caregivers and their children of all ages, backgrounds and genders. Delivered through a holistic approach that reflects spiritual, cultural, and social needs of Inuit families, of all backgrounds. Ilingavugut focuses on the sharing and celebration of Inuit culture, language, and teachings, including Inuit drum dancing, throat singing as well as Inuit values.
Inuit Drumming for Kids 👤 Ages 5 – 18
A fun-filled experience learning the traditional art of Inuit drumming! This activity is open to children and youth between the ages of 5 to 18 years.
Inuit Program 👤 All Ages
Inuit Program provides a space to come together & connect with various aspects of Inuit culture.
Mother Goose 👤 Ages 0 – 2
Caregivers and young children between the ages of 0-2 come together to enjoy songs, rhymes & stories focused on Indigenous culture, nature & wildlife.
Rowing 👤 Ages 16 +
No experience is necessary to try dryland rowing & 100% at your own pace.
Teen Program 👤 Ages 13 – 17
This will be a space where youth ages 13 – 17 decide what activities or craft will be planned. Come engage, chat, or just hangout and listen!
Wisdom Circle 👤 Ages 50 +
Wisdom Circle is a weekly program for seniors ages 50+ to come together, share their stories, and enjoy each other’s company as they connect through cultural, educational, and recreational activities.
Women’s Program 👤 Ages 18+
Women’s group is open to women of all ages and provides a culturally safe space to engage in peer-support and participate in a variety of activities and events.
Yoga 👤 Ages 16+
Yoga Program allows a safe and relaxing space to connect with ourselves and to Mother Earth; encouraging positive mental, emotional, and physical health.
Young Adults Program 👤 Ages 18 – 30
Young adults program is open to ages 18 – 30 to participate in avariety of activities – ranging from physical, cultural, educational – and always a lot of fun!
