Centre for Performance & Creativity

First Light champions the arts as a key aspect to cultural preservation and revitalization. As one of First Light’s five social enterprises, First Light Centre for Performance and Creativity is an Indigenous-led, not-for-profit professional arts centre. It is dedicated to the creation, curation and exhibition of traditional and contemporary art striving to provide accessible and inclusive spaces for performance and visual arts in Downtown St. John’s. Featuring a well-resourced 500-seat concert hall, a spacious and versatile multi-purpose room, as well as a commercial kitchen, this location is ideal for any event. We offer a variety of sponsorships and presentations each year including community arts programs, and public performances that provide meaningful opportunities for artist development and cultural connection. The Centre for Performance and Creativity supports the celebration of Indigenous culture and aims to increase visibility in the greater arts community. It provides a space for collaboration, strengthening relationships, and is an effective means of promoting community wellness.
