What to Expect

This unique fusion of two Cape Breton cultures showcases the Teachings and songs of the Mi’kmaq (L’nu) People blended with the fiery fiddling of Cape Breton Island (Unama’ki). The music genre we created (Mi’kmaltic) is based around the idea of taking our traditional Mi’kmaq songs and teachings a step further. In our music, we added Fiddle, Guitar, Harmonies, and Percussion which led to the creation of the Mi’kmaltic (Mi’kmaq + Celtic) style. ”L’nu Connections” gives the students the opportunity to learn about the Mi’kmaq Culture and as a bonus, they will learn the “Ko’jua” which is a Mi’kmaq social dance that has been done in Mi’kma’ki for over 500 years.
