Coming Home to Spirit Song

Coming Home to Spirit Song

Each year, Spirit Song Festival brings people together to celebrate Indigenous arts, culture, and music. The festival has grown into one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most anticipated cultural events, creating space for shared experiences that connect us all.

This year’s theme, Close to Home, shines a light on the incredible talent we have right here in our own province. From music to visual art, storytelling to performance, we are celebrating the creative brilliance found in our local community: the artists, knowledge keepers, and emerging voices who make our home rich in story and spirit.

Opening Night: The Stories on Our Walls

The festival opens tonight, November 7th at 6:00 p.m., with The Stories on Our Walls — a community-rooted art exhibition at Eastern Edge Gallery (72 Harbour Drive). This special exhibit brings together works by Indigenous artists exploring themes of home, memory, identity, and place.

Can’t make it to the opening? No worries — the exhibition runs from November 7 to December 13, 2025. Visit Eastern Edge Gallery during regular operating hours to experience the beauty and storytelling captured on these walls.

A Festival for the Community

This year, Spirit Song Festival isn’t just about watching performances. It’s about creating, connecting, and shining together! Throughout the festival, there will be opportunities for community members to bring what they’re working on, whether that’s art, craft, storytelling or music and share it, in a space that celebrates creativity in all its forms.

We’re also introducing Artist Pathways, the first in a new series of pop-up arts programs designed to empower community members to explore their creative journeys.

Events to Look Forward To

In partnership with the WISH (We’re Indigenous & Still Here) research network, we’re hosting In Our Own Words Writers’ Panel featuring powerful voices who use storytelling to reflect, resist, and reimagine. Plus, we’ll be turning up the energy with the Fierceness and Feathers Drag Show, alongside a variety of workshops, performances, and community gatherings that remind us: art is for everyone.
