More Than Merchandise: Welcome to the First Light Store

More Than Merchandise: Welcome to the First Light Store

For some time now, community members, supporters, staff, and volunteers have been asking the same question: “Where can I get a First Light shirt?” We’re excited to finally have an answer. The First Light Store is officially open!

Visit shop.firstlightnl.ca to browse merchandise and place your order.

For many people, a t-shirt, hoodie, or hat may seem like a small thing. But merchandise helps create visibility, starts conversations, and gives people a way to visibly support Indigenous led programming and initiatives. At its heart, the First Light Store is about community.

Every purchase helps support First Light programming while contributing to the growth of this new venture. When you wear First Light merchandise, you’re not simply wearing a logo. You are supporting Indigenous community initiatives and meaningful work that gives back. Every order is packed by hand by First Light staff and volunteers, making each purchase part of a community effort from start to finish.

As excited as we are to launch, we also want to be transparent: the store is still new and a work in progress. Like any new project, there will be opportunities to learn, improve, and grow along the way.

The store currently features a selection of First Light branded t-shirts, beanies and ball caps, but this is only the beginning. As the store grows, we hope to introduce more items that celebrate Indigenous creativity, culture, and community. We welcome your feedback and appreciate your patience as we continue to develop a shopping experience that works for everyone.

For now, customers can browse and place orders online. Shipping is not currently available. Local pickup is available at First Light’s office at 70 Brookfield Road in St. John’s. Customers will be contacted when their order is ready. Over the next six to eight weeks, we will be introducing a new ordering system designed to streamline the process and improve the customer experience. For more information about how the store works, including Frequently Asked Questions, visit our Store Page.

We know that many schools, organizations, businesses, and community groups are looking for bulk orders, particularly around Orange Shirt Day and other events focused on Indigenous awareness, education, and reconciliation. You can visit our Bulk Ordering page for help, if you need alternate payment arrangements for your bulk order. Once reviewed and approved, an invoice will be issued and payment can be completed. If you’re planning for Orange Shirt Day, we encourage you to place your order as early as possible. Demand can be significant, and early planning helps ensure a smooth process for everyone involved.

The First Light Store is still in its early days, but we’re excited about where it can go. With community support, we hope to continue expanding our offerings, creating opportunities for Indigenous artists and makers, and building something that reflects the spirit of First Light itself.

If you’d like to support the store in another way, we’re also looking for volunteers to help as the project grows. Whether it’s assisting with inventory or packing orders, or sharing skills that can help the store grow, we’d love to hear from you. Visit the volunteer link to learn more!

Thank you for being part of this journey and for supporting First Light and the work we do together. We look forward to growing the store alongside our community. Browse the collection, find something you love, and help us build what’s next.
