First Light’s Indigenous Housing Team supports community members who are unhoused or facing housing insecurity, grounded in the belief that home is more than a physical space—it lives in relationships and community.
Our team includes an intake worker, housing support workers, and case managers who work closely with individuals to secure safe, affordable housing.
We take a client-centered approach, meeting people where they are and assisting with every step of the housing process. This includes helping with housing searches, providing transportation for viewings, navigating systems, ensuring proper documentation, and assisting with setting up a new home.
Our team offers housing setup support, which may include first month’s rent, damage deposits, and essential furniture. We also provide client support, such as access to traditional foods, gift cards to address food insecurity, and prevention and shelter diversion services. This includes landlord-tenant mediation aimed at supporting both the client and the landlord—helping to foster a positive relationship and maintain it over time.
Once housed, our case managers continue to provide ongoing support, helping individuals maintain stable housing and access the resources they need to thrive.
