Community Programs

At First Light, we are committed to enhancing the well-being of Indigenous individuals, families, and communities living in urban areas through our free, accessible programs.

Programs for our Urban Community

Living in an urban setting can sometimes create distance from land, ceremony, and traditional practices. That’s why our community programs are designed to help bridge that gap—creating spaces where Indigenous peoples can reconnect with culture, explore creative expression, gather in ceremony, and engage in land-based activities that nourish the spirit.

We offer free and accessible opportunities that support the well-being of Indigenous individuals, families, and communities.

We’re working behind the scenes to roll out even more programming over the coming months.

Keep checking back, and stay connected as our programming continues to grow!

What’s On Now

Every program we create is guided by care, shaped by community voices, and built to reflect the strengths, needs, and hopes of the people we serve. Whether you’re looking to deepen your cultural roots, support your wellness, or simply spend time in good company, there’s a place for you here.

Braided Program Framework

We believe in the power of community, culture, and care. Our programs are guided by three key strands—Healing, Connection, and Empowerment—that help us create spaces that are relational, grounded in culture, and centered in community.

  • Healing: Programs focused on care, wellness, and recovery, supporting people as they heal from life’s challenges and trauma.
  • Connection: Programs that bring people together, fostering a sense of belonging and building community through shared experiences.
  • Empowerment: Programs that support growth, skill-building, and leadership, helping individuals connect with culture and build confidence in themselves.
