Summary
The Early Learning Programs Coordinator plays a key leadership role in the delivery of First Light’s school-age and family resource programs. Grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being, this position ensures that programming is inclusive, culturally rooted, and responsive to the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of children and families.
The Coordinator supports a team of Early Learning Educators and collaborates across departments to align programming with the organization’s broader wellness and community development work. This position is essential in fostering connection, growth, and belonging for young learners and their families.

What You’ll Do
Program Leadership & Support
- Provide supportive supervision to school-age and family resource educators
- Guide the development and delivery of responsive, culturally-rooted programming
- Promote inclusive practices that reflect diverse family experiences and needs
- Ensure programs align with First Light’s values and early learning framework
Operational Coordination
- Oversee day-to-day operations including scheduling, payroll submissions, and materials planning
- Track and manage program budgets, purchases, and expenses
- Collect and submit monthly reports and statistics for evaluation and accountability
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with the Early Learning Childcare Coordinator to ensure consistency across all early learning programs
- Support integration of early learning programming with other organizational initiatives and community events
- Participate in cross-team planning and staff development opportunities
Professional Development & Team Culture

- Plan and support team learning opportunities based on staff needs and organizational priorities
- Promote reflective practice and continuous improvement
Skills, Experience and Requirements
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, languages, and community realities
- Experience delivering or coordinating early learning or family-centered programs
- Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- Valid RNC Vulnerable Sector Check
- Reliable transportation
- Certified Early Childhood Educator (ECE) designation is considered a strong asset
