At First Light Childcare Centre, our programming is thoughtfully designed to support the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and cultural growth of every child.
As an Early Childhood Inclusion Educator, you’ll play a key role in ensuring that every child is actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences and receives the individual support they need to thrive. This role is rooted in collaboration—with families, team members, and community professionals—to create a learning space where all children feel respected, valued, and empowered.
You’ll adapt routines and activities to promote full participation, offer one-on-one support during transitions or challenges, and help foster an inclusive and welcoming environment for children and their families.

What You’ll Do
Inclusive Classroom Support
- Support and promote the overall development and well-being of children requiring additional guidance and encouragement
- Adapt and maintain developmentally appropriate programming indoors and outdoors to ensure all children can participate meaningfully
- Provide focused, one-on-one support to children during daily routines, transitions, and learning experiences
- Participate in group activities such as circle time, helping create inclusive and engaging spaces
Family & Professional Collaboration
- Communicate daily with families, sharing meaningful updates about children’s progress and challenges
- Collaborate with families and external professionals to ensure shared goals and consistent support
Observation & Documentation
- Observe, document, and reflect on children’s developmental progress
- Conduct and document daily observations to inform planning and communication
- Complete incident reports accurately, reviewing with the Childcare Administrator and families as needed
Daily Care & Well-Being
- Assist with diapering and toileting as required, following hygiene and safety guidelines
- Support children with dressing for outdoor play, prioritizing those who require extra help
- Administer medications as directed, ensuring documentation and adherence to policy
- Serve as a positive role model during meals, encouraging children to try new foods
- Comfort children during rest periods with gentle, supportive techniques
Team & Program Support
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized classroom
- Provide additional classroom support as needed to meet evolving program needs
Skills, Experience, and Requirements
To be eligible for this role, you must have:
- Level 2 or above certified Early Childhood Educator through AECENL
- Record of Conduct / Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid First Aid / CPR
- Current Anti-Bias Training
What could support success in this role:
- Experience working with children with additional support needs that could include developmental and/or behavioural challenges
- Experience working with Indigenous communities
