Coordinator of Indigenous Housing & Inclusion

Summary

The Coordinator of Indigenous Housing and Inclusion is responsible for providing holistic social support to community members navigating complex social, mental health, and housing situations. This includes working internally with other First Light programs, as well as connecting with external Community and Government partners to help people meet their needs. 

Due to the complexity of the skills required for this work, the Coordinator of Indigenous Housing and Inclusion will require a strong background in supportive community work, clinical supervision, have experience around mental health and addictions, as well as working with Indigenous people, understanding the legacy of colonialism and its continued impact on those we work with.

Reporting directly to the Manager of Indigenous Housing and Inclusion, the Coordinator of Indigenous Housing and Inclusion will be responsible for supervising the Housing Case Managers and Cultural Support Workers, coordinating with community partners, operating within the program budget, collecting and reporting on data as required, and developing supports and processes to meet the evolving needs of community members.

What You’ll Do

• Coordinate the Indigenous Housing Team by supervising staff and maintaining financial and data reporting requirements.
• Assist households and shelter clients in securing and maintaining social housing, including referrals to other community services.
• Work with the manager to define the Centre’s role in transitional housing support.
• Support Housing Workers in individual and group work, offering supervision on family, individual, and clinical concerns.
• Collaborate across the organization to integrate housing, justice, and social supports into all programs and services.
• Link internal programs with community/government resources for holistic support.
• Support the Manager with financial documentation, data collection, and qualitative reporting for funding purposes.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years in a similar role
• Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Indigenous Studies, or a related field (or a combination of education and experience)
• Awareness and knowledge of NL Indigenous culture, traditions, and practices
• Team supervision and supportive counselling experience
• Clinical supervision skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Critical thinking and creative problem-solving abilities
• Positive attitude and commitment to continual process improvement
