Welcome to Our Digital Space: First Light Launches a New Website

June 06, 2025

St. John’s, NL – At First Light, everything we do begins with community and is guided by culture. Over the past few years, we’ve grown in many ways—welcoming new team members, expanding our programs, and deepening relationships across our community. As we grow, so too must the spaces we hold—including our digital ones.

Today, we’re proud to share our new website with you.

This update is more than just a fresh look. It’s a reflection of who we are, how we work, and the values we carry forward each day. Whether you’re looking for cultural programming, community supports, or family services, you’ll find it more accessible and interconnected than ever before.

Our work is guided by the First Light Strategy Wheel, a living framework rooted in Indigenous knowledge, relationships, and holistic understanding. It reminds us that our work is not just about delivering programs, but about walking together, lifting each other up, and creating space for healing, learning, and growth—for today and for generations to come.

We were grateful to partner with the team at WaterWerks to create a space that is bold, welcoming, and grounded in who we are as an urban Indigenous organization.

The new site reflects this way of being. From cultural programming to housing, health, and early learning, you’ll see how all of our work connects—always centering Indigenous culture and community. You’ll also find:

  • A simplified menu and improved navigation
  • A refreshed Community Events calendar
  • Clearer pathways to learn about our programs and services
  • A powerful Truth and Reconciliation section featuring the 42 Calls for Change, created in partnership with First Voice Community Advocates and allies

This new website is part of a larger effort to ensure our digital space matches the strength and spirit of the work we’re doing every day. We’re committed to walking alongside community – listening, learning, and growing together.

We thank you for your patience and support as we made these changes. And a big thank you to all the staff, partners, and community members who helped bring this vision to life.

We invite you to explore the new site, learn something new, and connect with us.

This is your space too – welcome home.
