Sisters in Spirit Vigil to Honour Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ People

St. John’s, NL —In collaboration with the St. John’s Status of Women Council, First Light will host the annual Sisters in Spirit Vigil on Saturday, October 4, 2025. This gathering is a time to honour the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, to remember those taken too soon, and to stand in solidarity with their families and loved ones. 

The vigil will begin at 6:00pm. Community members who wish to commemorate a loved one are invited to share a short message, poem, or other tribute. Submissions can be sent to Brooke at [email protected] or by phone at (709) 725-8599.

Those who wish to attend the Vigil are encouraged to register online.

Out of respect for families and loved ones, the Vigil will be closed to media. However, a media availability will take place at 70 Brookfield Road from noon until 1:00pm on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
