The First Light and BGC St. John’s Shared Spaces initiative is a four-year project that wants to help Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) children and youth in the St. John’s region feel more included in the community. To achieve this, they want to create a BIPOC Youth Council. This council will give young people a chance to share their ideas and opinions
about current and future programs and activities in the community. It will also help reduce any obstacles that make it hard for them to attend events, such as transportation or financial issues.
The council is looking for young people between the ages of 15 -18, especially those from BIPOC backgrounds, to join and help make a positive impact on the community. By being part of the council, young people can learn leadership skills and work with others who care about their community. The goal is to create a better future for everyone in St. John’s.
